A NEW EÉRA IN PLAYFUL DESIGN

Brand: EÉRA
Founders: Chiara Capitani & Romy Blanga
Based In: Milan, Italy

How They Met: Before launching EÈRA with Romy, Chiara was a design consultant for a variety of fashion houses, specialising in bringing creative projects to life, while Romy previously worked for a number of fashion houses in PR and brand communications before moving forward into the role of brand manager. The duo met in Milan nearly seven years ago and bonded immediately. “Over the years, we collaborated on different projects and discovered our mutual love of jewellery. We found that our different tastes and creative visions complemented each other well.”

Design Philosophy: Jewellery design has always been a passion of both Chiara and Romy, and creating EÈRA was their ultimate goal. The duo primarily works with diamonds and gold, while also experimenting with new materials. “We worked on combining our experiences, as well as our influences in art and fashion, to create valuable designs that celebrate Italian craftsmanship. We wanted to create jewellery because not only is it like clothing in that it is a reflection of personal style, but it is also something precious that can be passed down through generations.”

Brand Launch on Instagram: “We teased EÈRA on Instagram at the end of 2018 and showcased our first collection in February 2019. In our debut collection, we had close to 20 different styles, excluding the different colours and stones that were available.”

Chiara Earring

Iconic Design: Two of their best-seller styles are named after them – the Chiara earrings have a functional hinge, while the Romy series has two functional hinges – all cleverly aimed at personalisation. “Our most iconic pieces are the ‘Chiara’ earrings, which is the most literal interpretation of the snap hook and comes in a variety of colours, as well as the ‘Romy’ earrings, which has a curved profile.”

Inspiration: Chiara and Romy found the snap hook together while at a vintage market in Tokyo and bought it as a keepsake. “The way the neon colours came about is that we started thinking about how, when used in sporting activities, snap hooks are often brightly coloured and that it would be interesting and unconventional to try to incorporate this into fine jewellery.”

Unexpected Details: The designer duo loves to give their fine jewellery unexpected details. “Our first collection included gold pieces with neon enamel and so the rubberised finish is an evolution of our design approach.”

What’s New: “We showcased our third collection at the Paris Fashion Week just before the lockdown. Our latest line includes many new designs, as well as our signature pieces in new colourways. We also just unveiled our selection of solitaire rings – a first for EÈRA. Production has recently restarted in Italy and we’re excited to see our new pieces being worn.”

Celebrities Seen in EÉRA: Hailey Bieber, Dua Lipa, Lena Perminova, Helena Bordon, Amina Muaddi, Gilda Ambrosio, Giorgia Tordini, Tina Kunakey, Alexa Demie, and Vittoria Ceretti, amongst others.

Where to Find EÉRA: “We’ve been fortunate enough to work with some of the best global platforms in EÈRA’s first year, like NET-A-PORTER, Mytheresa.com, Le Bon Marche, Barneys, Brownsfashion.com, Moda Operandi, and The Webster. We were first featured on Moda Operandi for pre-order.”
