WHY THIS PATEK PHILIPPE WATCH WILL BREAK RECORDS

At the upcoming Christie’s Important Watches sale, the auction house will be featuring a unique 18k white gold triangular bracelet watch with diamond crystal glass, Ref. 3843/1 by Patek Philippe. Here, we explain why we think this timepiece will break records during its Hong Kong sale on 28 November 2016, Grand Hall, Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

1. It features the third-largest portrait-cut diamond as its crystal
Instead of a conventional and durable sapphire crystal, the highlight of this piece is its lasque diamond crystal that weighs 13.43cts. This flat diamond has irregular outlines and was brought to Patek Philippe by a client. It is a breathtaking experience to view the timepiece’s blue face through the diamond piece.

2. It is a symbol of modernity
This timepiece is unique for its uncommon features. The triangular face was inspired by the shape of the diamond’s portrait, one of the firsts to stray from the classic faces that we are familiar with, such as round and tonneau.

3. It is a collector’s piece
Specially created for an important customer, it is a rare occasion for the brand to do special commissions. This watch represents Patek Philippe’s promise to deliver the finest watches without compromising its watchmaking history to meet the demands of their important clients.

4. It is one to see in person
Images of the watch will never justify the timepiece’s allure. Many would want to sought after this piece just to marvel at its beauty.
