WINGED ADVOCACY

uSfuur — Arabic for ‘bird’ — is Yara Tlass’ newly launched jewellery collection. The Syrian-born, Dubai-based designer first founded a charity organisation, Watanili, that sponsors recreational activities within Syria and supports Syrian refugees through art-therapy workshops and educational programs in 2014. She has since decided to expand Watanili’s initiative by spreading the word through jewellery.

A universal symbol of freedom, peace, serenity, independence, and strength, Tlass sees the bird as an icon to spread the awareness that Syrians, particularly the children, deserve to have a safe environment to learn and grow.

Taking inspiration from the silhouette of a bird in flight, the collection features simple, minimalistic winged-motif pieces, ranging from necklaces, anklets, bangles, rings, and earrings. Available at trunk shows (recently, in Paris) and through personal orders via usfuurinfo@gmail.com. A percentage of sales will go to Watinili.
