HOMAGE TO PLUMAGE

Boho chic meets high jewellery in Chopard’s Red Carpet Feather necklace

Inspired by Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele’s many travels, this year’s Red Carpet collection from the brand comprises 71 one-of- a-kind masterpieces befitting cinema’s greatest actresses at Cannes.

One piece, however, threatened to outshine any dazzling star that dared to wear it — an extraordinary necklace made of feathers. Inspired by the traditional costumes and heritage of the Mongolian people, the Red Carpet Collection Feather necklace features a sculpted cameo pendant studded with blue apatites, violet garnets, and red jasper. But the real stars in the piece are the silky feathers that make up the necklace — from rooster, gray heron, ostrich, and black pheasant. Parisian plumassier Nelly Saunier lent her artistry and expertise in the production of this masterpiece. A first for Chopard, the creation of the Feather necklace is a testament to the Swiss House’s passion for unique creations coupled by its old-age jewellery techniques and craftsmanship.

“Birds demonstrate total freedom in revealing their beauty. It is this spontaneity and this authentic form of expression that I share. Feathers are all about emotions”– Nelly Saunier, Feather Artist
