Dark Green Is The Night

Known as the pioneer of ceramic in watches, Rado first introduced this material in 1986. The latest iteration of this high-tech material is Rado’s True Square Thinline series, designed to let its wearer “own the night”. Making its debut is Rado’s True Square Thinline in dark green, featuring a deep viridescent mother-of-pearl face that sets off yellow lacquered hands and printed hour markers. Powered by the Rado Calibre R420 with 13 jewels, the movement of this quartz timepiece is less than a millimetre thick. Its entire case and crown are made of high-tech ceramic, but the true feat of this timepiece and what defines its Thinline badge is its mere 5mm thickness – a marvel of miniature watchmaking. Durable, light, scratch- resistant and also water resistant up to three bars (30m), this is one timepiece that promises to outlast its wearer’s longest nights out.

Colourful Impressions

The undisputed pioneer of impressionism, Claude Monet has inspired countless of artists and artisans with his life’s works. In a tribute to Monet’s vision of Venice and in conjunction with the Homo Faber Biennial Exhibition in Venice this September, Jaeger-LeCoultre released three new limited-edition Reverso timepieces, each with casebacks featuring miniature reproductions of Monet’s paintings of Venice. Launched under the flag of the maison’s Metiers RareTM (rare handicrafts) Atelier, the three selected images – San Giorggio Maggoire at Dusk (pictured), Grand Canal and the Doge’s Palace – were chosen from the 37 images Monet painted during his 10-week stay in Venice in 1908. Employing enamelling as the artistry of choice for the miniature paintings, the dials are encased in 18ct white gold and house the manually-wound Jaeger- LeCoultre Calibre 822. The three timepieces are offered in limited editions of 10 pieces each.

Pink Of Stealth

How do you take a classic favourite and give it a new twist? When Japanese architect Tadao Ando was tasked by Bvlgari to reimagine the Serpenti Tubogas timepiece, he looked to the seasons – a favourite theme of his – for inspiration. The result is a limited- edition collection that captures the fleeting splendour of nature, expressed through colours of the season and in precious materials such as green aventurine, brown tiger’s eye, and white and pink mother-of-pearl. Here, the expression of Spring, or haru in Japanese, features elegant shades of pink mother-of-pearl on the dial. The automatic timepiece is housed in a 35mm steel curved case, with its caseback engraved with Ando’s signature. A rose gold bezel set with 38 diamonds totalling 0.29ct leads the wrist wrap with either a 135mm or 145mm twirl steel and rose gold bracelet.

Understated Chic

For globe-trotters who segue as easily into a boardroom meeting as they do into an after-hours yacht party, the Patek Philippe Ref. 5330G is the ultimate time-keeper. First launched as a limited edition timepiece in June 2023, Ref. 5330 is distinguished by a patented world first: a date display indexed to local time: The time zone selected is at 12 o’clock on the city disk and is indicated by the central hands. The brand has developed a new movement, the self-winding 240-HU C calibre with an innovative patented differential system to manage the local-time date. This mechanism alone comprises 70 components. Thanks to an ingenious mechanism patented in 1999, the user can simultaneously correct all World Time displays, including the date, in one-hour increments simply by pressing the pusher at 10 o’clock. Crafted with a denim-patterned, hand-stitched calfskin strap to complement its opaline blue- gray dial, this 40mm timepiece is set in a white gold case with a sapphire crystal case back that is water resistant to 30 metres.
