FINE ART SPECTACLE: TEFAF MAASTRICHT REVIEW

Maastricht, The Netherlands, once again hosted The European Fine Art Foundation (TEFAF) 2016, held at the Maastricht Exhibition and Congress Centre. From 11 to 20 March, the fair provided a platform for collectors, connoisseurs, curators, and art lovers from all the world to gather and appreciate fine art.

Presenting 275 of the world’s leading galleries from 20 different countries, TEFAF Maastricht curated exhibitions that portrayed “Excellence, Expertise, and Elegance” — the core values of TEFAF. rom photographs and paintings to high jewellery, visitors were treated to an array of artworks carefully collected, preserved, and showcased.

At its 41st instalment, TEFAF continues to ensure that every work of art in the fair is examined for quality, authenticity, and condition for proper and fair purchase. Among the highlighs of the fair was the debut of several jewellers, including Chinese jewellery artist Wallace Chan, and vintage and modern fine jewellery comapnies Verdura and Belperron. The fair also saw the return of German jeweller Hemmerle for the 19th time. This time with a new exhibition stand that featured a sculptural structure designed by Dutch architect Tom Postma.

The fair concluded with an announcement on the launch of two new annual art fairs in New York — first in Fall October 2016, which will focus on art from antiquity to the 20th century, and and second in Spring May 2017, focusing on modern and contemporary art and design. www.tefaf.com
