HK JEWELLERY TWIN SHOWS RETURN IN FEBRUARY

5 reasons to visit the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show and Hong Kong International Jewellery Show this year

What better way to wrap up 2018 than to start planning early for all the jewellery events coming your way in 2019? Two major jewellery shows organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) are a must-visit for sure. The sixth Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show — which specialises in loose stones and raw materials for jewellery, will run from 26 Feb to 2 March 2019 at AsiaWorld-Expo; while the 36th Hong Kong International Jewellery Show — which focuses on finished jewellery, will take place from 28 Feb to 4 March 2019 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The twin shows are expected to welcome more than 4,600 exhibitors from about 50 countries and regions, forming the world’s largest jewellery marketplace. In the last edition, the shows attracted more than 87,000 buyers from 145 countries and regions, staking a claim as the region’s biggest promotion and sourcing platforms for global players in the jewellery industry.

Here are five more reasons you shouldn’t miss the shows.

  1. JAPAN AS PARTNER COUNTRY FOR THE FIRST TIME

The HKTDC, in collaboration with the Japan Pearl Exporters’ Association and the Japan Pearl Promotion Society, has invited Japan to be this year’s partner country for the first time. Group pavilions at the shows will gather about 130 Japanese pearl and jewellery exporters, featuring a wide range of activities including jewellery parades, press and networking events, as well as seminars on market trends.

  1. BETTER, MORE EXCITING JEWELLERY ZONES

The Jewellery Show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre showcases an extensive array of fine jewellery under various themed zones. As usual, the “Hall of Extraordinary” will display valuable and unique jewellery pieces from over 100 top-tier jewellery companies; while the “Hall of Fame” will spotlight renowned jewellery brands, including returning exhibitors such as Hong Kong’s ELLE, Italy’s Giorgio Visconti, Japan’s Kuwayama, Mainland China’s jewellery chain store Lao Feng Xiang.

The “Designer Galleria” will gather a number of local and overseas designers’ jewellery brands such as Hong Kong jewellery designers J.P.Cam, Lisa Lee, Michael Wong, as well as Ammie Kang and Wang Yue Yaw from Taiwan. Other exciting theme zones include the “World of Glamour”, showcasing the haute craftsmanship of Hong Kong jewellers; the “Hall of Time” dedicated to luxury watches and timepieces; “IT Solutions for Jewellery” zone showing the latest technology and solutions for the jewellery industry.

  1. DEBUT OF AMBER JEWELLERY ZONE AND AVENUE OF JEWELLERY CREATORS AT THE JEWELLERY SHOW

This year, a brand-new “Amber Jewellery” zone will be launched to showcase stunning amber jewellery from Korea, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, and the United States under one roof. Also for the first time this year, the HKTDC is collaborating with the Asia Pacific Creator Association to establish “Avenue of Jewellery Creators”, which will house creative masterpieces from various jewellery creators.

  1. 20th HONG KONG JEWELLERY DESIGN COMPETITION

To promote local craftsmanship and creativity, the HKTDC joins hands with Hong Kong Jewellers’ & Goldsmiths’ Association, Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association, Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’ Association and Diamond Federation of Hong Kong to organise the 20th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition. Divided into the Open Group and the Student Group, the competition is themed “Be Connected, Be United”. Designs of the finalists will be on display during the show period, unveiling unique local creativity to international players.

  1. MULTI-FACETED PROGRAMMES FOR BUSINESS NETWORKING

The shows deliver all-rounded programmes of jewellery parades, seminars, buyer forums, and networking events that bring trending market intelligence to industry players. On the first evening of the Jewellery Show (28 February), a spectacular gala dinner under the theme “Dionysus” will be hosted for local and overseas industry professionals to expand business networks over fine food and wine. The award presentation ceremony of the biennial International Jewellery Design Excellence Award will also be held at the cocktail reception prior to the gala dinner.
