THE 7 MOST STUNNING JEWELLERY WATCHES AT WATCHES & WONDERS

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36

Rolex had an interesting line-up this year, which included a new Oyster Perpetual sporting a multi-coloured lacquered dial, and an Oyster Perpetual Day-Date featuring a colourful dial in the same spirit, with added baguette-cut sapphires and novelty features. Though if we had to pick a bejewelled stunner in the line-up, we’re going for the stone dials of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36.

In carnelian, turquoise, and green aventurine — a personal favourite — the stones effortlessly add character to the dial, complementing the diamond-set Roman numerals and framed bezel. The crystallised effects, matrices and veins peculiar to these decorative stones make every watch face a unique work of art.

Patek Philippe Gondola Serata

Of 17 new novelties, the Gondolo Serata (Ref. 4962/200R-001) sets itself apart with its Art Deco-inspired design. The watch sits beautifully on the wrist, thanks to the curvature of the case along the length of each lug.

The rose gold case is set with spessartites arranged in a double colour gradient, running from brown to orange. The gems frame a brown-lacquered dial with a floral motif, against leaf-shaped hands and hour markers marking just “12” and “6”.

Cartier Clash [Un]limited

Cartier presents both minimalistic and maximalist timepieces, so now we’re kicking ourselves for having to pick just one to single out (because the new Bagnoire on a gold bangle is to-die-for!), but we have to commend the dramatic aesthetics of the Clash [Un]limited for this one. The chunky medley of facets and stones in various shapes and finishings makes it hard to decide on just one design.

Flourished in full yellow, rose, and white gold versions (the latter with diamonds), any one of these would keep the look uniform, but a version with the complementing mixture of corals, black spinels, chyroprases (an apple-green variety of chalcedony), tsavorites, and diamonds is a statement piece for both on and off the wrist.

Van Cleef & Arpels Ludo Secret

The suite of high jewellery watches by the Maison includes a new interpretation of the iconic Ludo bracelet. Van Cleef & Arpels presents this á la secret watch in two interpretations — white or pink diamonds — in rose gold.

The belt-like design features a uniform brick-pattern mesh work, where the opening to reveal the dial is cleverly sealed. Until one interacts with the gem-set bow by pushing the top and bottom together, the watch opens up to reveal a guilloché white-of-pearl dial with simple time.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Secret Necklace

Since clocks were first miniaturised to be carried or worn as watches, women have played a pivotal role in determining the aesthetic of time and the ways in which it is worn. The new Reverso Secret Necklace marries both horology and jewellery in its own interpretation.

The cordonnet (small cord) seen on Reverso models of the 1930s has been reimagined as a supple chain of intricate diamond-set links and polished onyx beads, from which a richly gem-set Reverso is suspended. Two pendants of polished onyx charms add a refined flourish to this elegant new way of wearing the time.

Chopard Imperiale Day & Night

Chopard introduces a new timepiece to the Imperiale collection. Produced in a limited run of just 25 pieces, the new Imperiale beautifully displays day and night on a mother-of-pearl dial.

It is lacquered in a cerulean gradient, each half indicating the time of day, where nighttime is emphasised with seven gold-powder stars. Snow-set diamonds and sapphires in six different shades of blue add on to this, which constantly sparkles as the disc is in perpetual motion, running on the L.U.C 96.30-L caliber.

Hermès Arceau Petite Lune

Hermès’ metier d’art watches were bound to make a reveal, which included studded imagery in the new Slim d’Hermès watches such as the Cheval de légende. But what caught our eye was the Arceau Petite Lune, which is a poetic lunar display.

Simple time and a moon phase aperture are sandwiched between a raw blue aventurine dial, allowing the natural sparkles to behave like the starry sky, further accented with five select diamonds. Mother-of-pearl, aragonite, and opal are used to depict distant planets, each one presenting a unique natural pattern that differs in each timepiece.
