MOZAMBICAN RUBIES, ZAMBIAN EMERALDS IN NEW JEWELLERY COLLECTION

Shachee Fine Jewellery partners with Gemfields on Sakura-inspired pieces

Shachee Shah has been designing jewellery since 2008. Drawing inspirations from varied sources, including weaving and embroidery, flora and fauna, the changing colours of the sky, and “all that nature has to offer”, the Indian designer has created a body of works distinguished by imaginative designs that ripple with life.

Her creations for her own brand Shachee Shah Fine Jewellery, highlight a signature style that often employs micro-mosaic techniques and spun 18k gold that mimics the delicacy of lace. An Indian heritage manifests itself in Shah’s nature-inspired designs and exquisite craftsmanship which are the hallmarks of her country’s fine jewellery traditions.

This year, Shah has partnered with Gemfields in the creation of four new pieces inspired by Japanese cherry blossoms paired with other elements including a hummingbird, a rhododendron, and a lush forest. Each piece comes alive and sparkles with Gemfields’ Mozambican rubies and Zambian emeralds.

More than the beauty and rarity of Gemfields gemstones, Shah’s collaboration with Gemfields is inspired by the latter’s commitment to responsible mining. “I deeply respect the ethos of Gemfields with regard to ethical work,” Shah says, emphasising that it is also a value to which Shachee Fine Jewellery adheres. “I believe trust is so important – and I have total trust in Gemfields and their supply chain. Through jewellery, one passes on emotion to their loved ones.”

The pieces convey the “sweetness of nectar and romancing with the blooms”, Shah elaborates. The rubies’ deep red and pink tones and shimmering transparency create the lush carpet effect of cherry blossoms in springtime, she adds.

The earrings have a vintage Art Deco feel albeit with a modern twist. They are virtually wearable pieces of art. The Chapter of Forest earrings and ring were inspired by the lush green forests and the designer’s journey to the mountains. Emeralds add an enchanting touch to this piece with their green hues that capture nature’s beauty.
