Relying on our sense of sight, we look out for the perfect size, cut, and colour in jewellery. French jeweller Lorenz Bäumer agrees, but not quite, and associates beauty and our sense of smell with his unique Olfactium collection.
The Paris-based designer worked on a method to infuse perfume with precious materials. Following his passion for architecture and nature, he created a fine jewellery collection inspired by geometric forms on popular amulets.
The Scarabée Black & White brooch, for example, has wings that open by pushing the centre stone. It reveals a heart made out of a new gold alloy containing several drops of perfume to be released at will. The brooch features black and white diamonds pavé on white gold. www,lorenzbaumer.com
