Priced at US$3 million, The Egoist gold teapot is listed by the Guinness Book of Records as one of the world’s most expensive teapots
Made by Italian jeweller Scavia, the teapot serves one cup only, and is embellished with 1,658 brilliant cut diamonds and 386 rubies. This is topped with a 20.70ct natural ruby bead on the lid and a 6.67ct Thai ruby on the side, representing the “Sun of Southeast Asia”.
Designed and commissioned by Nirmal Sethia, founder of N Sethia Foundation and Newby Teas of London, the teapot took the Scavia team more than six months to produce and was finally unveiled at Mosiman’s restaurant in Belgravia.
The Egoist teapot is declared to be part of the Chitra collection, a tribute collection to Sethia’s late wife.
