After working with fashion houses like Lanvin and Yves Saint Laurent, Elie Top is not new to the world of design. It came as no surprise that the fashion jewellery designer soon started his own Paris-based namesake luxury jewellery brand — Maison Elie Top.
The brand’s first collection, the Mécaniques Célestes, comprises 11 limited-edition pieces, each crafted to have a spherical centrepiece that opens to reveal a universe of pavé diamonds set in gold, or a precious stone. The ‘heart of each piece’, the sphere can be left open or closed, depending on the wearer’s mood. It is supported by a bar that acts like an axis of a planet.
Extensive amount of time was spent on designing the mechanics of each piece. Almost on par with the process of creating a luxury timepiece, it took cutting-edge technology, such as 3D modelling and printing. A synthesis of remarkable engineering and creativity, Elie Top’s designs make us look forward to the exciting future of jewellery, where each piece captures beyond beauty.
